Nature is one of the main attractions in Molise; mountains and hills have given rise to rivers, streams and forest trees. The Matese massif is also famous for the karstic phenomenon and for the presence of national famous caves. Two natural oases run by WWF in Venafro and Guardiaregia, have guaranteed the safeguard of several plant and animal species. Guardiaregia, in particular, is going to be the second most extended in Italy : 2000 hectares among woods, streams, waterfalls, canyons and mountains.
In such an environment it is still possible to observe various species of rapacious: eagles, sparrow hawks, buzzards, hawks. Woods are mountains are inhabited by wolves, wild boars, hares.
