Montedimezzo Nucleous

Montedimezzo is placed on High Molise, in the town district of Vastogirardi (IS), at 20 km away from Collemeluccio forest. It can be reached from Isernia driving on Trignina street to the junction of Pescolanciano. From here, we proceed on the state street 86 Histonia to Carovilli and then on the provincial street “Carovillense” adjacent to the forest, to reach Vastogirardi and San Pietro Avellana, relevant tourism centres of high Molise.
Facilities: Two organised areas for picnic and free time with availability of maps and other materials near the Forester Station of Montedimezzo. In the Visitors Centre are kept old tools of the ancient pastoral civilization, with flora- fauna samples which represent protected areas in Molise. The Museum in the Visitors Centre is divided into three sections: the first is dedicated to the woods of Collemeluccio and Montedimezzo; the second to the geology of these areas, with a collection of rocks and minerals; the third to the local fauna. In the centre are also exposed tools belonging to the old pastoral tradition.
The access in the reservation is allowed for reasons of study and vigilance.
