MAB (Man and Biosphere) reservations have been instituted by UNESCO
with the aim of preserving natural and cultural values of great
importance, but also to study the relationships between human activities
and nature, so to study, in the most balanced way possible, the
development of our civilization.
Such reservations are 425 in 95 Countries; in Italy there are only
5: Parco Nazionale del Circeo in Lazio, Collemeluccio-Montedimezzo
in Molise, Parco Nazionale del Vesuvio, Ville Vesuviane e Miglio
d’Oro and Parco Nazionale del Cilento and Vallo di Diana in
Campania, Riserva Naturale Marina di Diramare in Friuli Venezia
Giulia.
