The “Carafa” ducal Palace occupies the whole fortified perimeter in the medieval village of Jelsi. The Palace has a beautiful view on rural and natural landscapes in the territory of Jelsi. After being restored with the funds of the Multiregional Operating Porogramme “Sviluppo locale – Patti territoriali per l’occupazione” in December 2001, the palace has become a Historical Residence (House for short stays.)
The side of the Palace devoted to the reception is on the second floor and on the little tower giving onto the town’s square. The structure is composed of three independent apartments provided with a kitchen, a laundry service, a TV and independent heating.
The Palace was built in 1517 by Giovanni Pinabello on the ruins of the Barras’ Angevin castle dating back to XIII cent. some of whose evidences are preserved up today in the basements.
The Palace is linked to the Annunziata chapel, in whose crypt are kept some fourteenth century frescos belonging to the school of Giotto and Cavallini; there are also kept the tombs of the Angevin vassals dwelling the Castle which preceded the building of the Ducal palace. In 1857 the Duchess Carafa sold the Palace to D’Amico family. From 1870 to 1973 it has been the seat of the Carabinieri.
Apartment A – “Maddalena Carafa”
Independent apartment on a single level, composed of a living room with a kitchen, two bathrooms with a shower and three bedrooms with a TV, for 6 bed places in all.
The kitchen is provided with a stove and an oven.
Apartment B – “Giovannella Carafa”
Independent apartment on a single level, composed of a living room with a kitchen, a bathroom with a shower and a bedroom with a TV, for 3 bed places in all.
The kitchen is provided with a stove and an oven. The bedroom gives onto the town square, with the Town Hall, the Bank and the shops, while the living room gives onto Largo Chiesa Madre.
Apartment C – “Alberigo Carafa”
Independent apartment on two levels linked by a winding staircase; it is composed of a living room with kitchen, bedroom with TV and bathroom with a shower, for 4 bed places in all. The kitchen is provided with a stove and an oven. The apartment is situated in the tower with a panoramic view. The bedroom gives onto the town square, the village’s roofs and the countryside.

For periods of stay between 3 and 30 days: discount from 15 to 70%. In such periods, heating and electricity are charged according to the recorded consumption; final cleaning: 10€.
